Dr. Emmanuel Opoola is an Associate Professor of Animal Science in the Division of Agricultural Colleges, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He has keen interest in research/ academic because it relatively gives him an opportunity to share knowledge and learn from senior colleagues. He took up a degree in Agriculture as a young undergraduate at Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria (2008) and stayed on there until he completed his M.Sc. and PhD. in animal science, (2012 and 2016) respectively. His academic interest is in the areas of feed stuffs evaluation, digestive physiology (including applied and basic nutritional research) and reduction of environmental impact of monogastric animal production by means of dietary manipulations. He started his career as a young academic in the Division of Agricultural College as a Lecturer II and rose to the rank of an associated Professor (2012-2021). He is the Head of Livestock Section, Kabba College of Agriculture, Ahmadu Bello University, (2017 – date). Dr. Emmanuel Opoola was a recipient of TEEAL project, located within Cornell University, Mann Library, Ithaca, NY, USA and the Information Training and Outreach Centre of Africa (ITOCA), South Africa, (2010 and 2016 respectively). In 2021, Dr. Emmanuel Opoola served as in-person volunteer for the Winrock Farmer-to-Farmer projects in Nigeria. He is currently a research scholar at the African Forum Centre for Policy Research and Development, Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Dr. Emmanuel Opoola is actively involved in international development projects and community activities. His research work at animal science department, Ahmadu Bello University and Kabba College of Agriculture, Ahmadu Bello University has resulted in numerous publications in many scientific journals as peer review papers, popular articles and research abstracts. He is a Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP), Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN), British Society of Animal Science (BSAS) and a certified animal scientist in Nigeria Institute of Animal Science (NIAS). In 2017-2020, Dr. Emmanuel Opoola, was a facilitator for the Graduate Unemployed Youths (GUYS) and the Agro Processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) Project which is a six-year project developed by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) in collaboration with the World Bank and other stakeholders. He developed the poultry production manual used for the trainings.
